You can find Estes Park events and activities year round, giving you plenty to look forward to during your next stay at Brynwood on the River! Some of the town's signature festivals and events are highlighted below.
Whiskey Warm Up Weekend warms up one of our town's winter months with multiple days of whiskey education and family events, including a free ice rink and face painting. Several local distilleries will also be offering their wares for lectures on various whiskey-related topics.
Winter activities and plenty of good food come together at the Estes Park Winter Festival. Enjoy toboggans, ice skating, snowshoeing, a cooking contest and more over Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend (January 17-18, 2015).
Model trains take over an unusual location during the Estes Park Rails in the Rockies event: the town's conference center, just a 5 minute drive from our hotel! British and United States trains and railroads alike will be presented with all the trappings, including working model trains. Stop by on February 14 and 15 (2015), to see them for yourself!
Restaurant Week is a special time for culinary offerings in Estes Park: many of the town's best restaurants will be offering special 3-course meals at a discounted price you won't want to miss out on. Special breakfast and lunch items will be served as well—just ask around to begin your next culinary expedition! (April 2015 dates TBA)

The Stanley Film Festival has fast become a favorite among horror film devotees since its inception in 2013—partly because of its location in the historic Stanley Hotel, the same location that once inspired Stephen King to write The Shining. Stop by for a round of classic horror films, new premieres (The Purge was shown during its first year), and other activities like horror trivia and a radio play!
The Estes Park Jazz Fest treats visitors to the best local and regional talent: admission is free! Seven bands will be playing on this weekend in Performance Park on May 16 and 17, 2015, just down the road from Brynwood on the River.
Memorial Day Weekend in Estes Park features a satisfying round of shopping, dining and live music, along with a special Art Market in Bond Park. Here, local, statewide and national artisans are invited to put their work on display for your enjoyment—and a jury's vote! Stop by and pick out your own winners on May 23-25, 2015.
Everyone wins at the Estes Park Duck Race: almost 70 different charities in town benefit from the rubber duckies participants pick. Then the ducks are put in a bucket and dropped into a river—if yours is among the first to make the finishing line downstream, you win a prize! 2015's event is scheduled to take place on May 2.
Sponsored by the Estes Park Medical Group, the Lake Estes Run is a great way to get outdoors with your family for a fast walk or easy run around Lake Estes. Kids activities will also be offered! (May 2015 dates TBA)
The idea of the Estes Park Wool Market may be as surprising as the result is exciting: everything wool-related, from crafts, classes and wool-bearing animals are featured during this free event. Learn spinning, pet a llama and check out a whole barn full of vendors and wares! (June 2015 dates TBD)
Culture, activities and entertainment merge in a special fashion during Estes Park's annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. It's a mix of cherished traditions and dances everyone is welcome to join in, beginning with a raising of the Maypole. Plenty of Scandinavian and Swedish food and handmade crafts will be featured, along with a swordsmanship demonstration, a Viking ship replica, car show and raffle for two tickets to Iceland! (June 2015 dates TBD)
Estes Park Marathon brings runners and enthusiasts to one of the nation's highest paved routes, starting from Bond Park in downtown Estes. Several different races will be held over the course of the day, including a full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K—making for a total of about seven hours. Look for more details about a Kid's run and Saturday running Festival! (June 2015 dates TBA)
The 4th of July hits Estes Park like a firecracker at the town's Go 4th Festival, starting with a pancake breakfast at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, continuing with professional bull riding at the fairgrounds, a car show, the East Village Band and a spectacular fireworks show over Lake Estes.
Rooftop Rodeo brings PCRA-sanctioned events to the town's fairgrounds along with a parade, dance and special tours behind the scenes. (July 2015 dates TBA)
Experience Estes Park in a new way during the Rocky Mountain Half Marathon, which stretches from the historic Stanley Hotel into a route beside the national park our town is famous for. (August 2015 date TBD)
From Indians and pioneers to the beginnings of a community with the arrival of Joel Estes, Estes Park has a special history. You can explore it for yourself at this year's Heritage Festival, taking place on August 23rd and 24th, 2014, at the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park. A family-friendly experience, the Festival also includes arts, crafts, wagon rides and the building of a log home!
Labor Day brings Estes Park to life with the Labor Day Wild West Weekend, featuring a rodeo, chuck wagon cook-off, and John Denver tribute concert, along with a full Arts & Crafts Show taking place throughout all three days. August 30-September 1, 2014.
Did you know Estes Park is home to one of the nation's largest gatherings of Scottish people? The Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival has become a local tradition for them and others to celebrate the culture through drinks, dances and a huge parade down main street. No matter how much you know about Scotland, you're sure to have a great time at this family-friendly event! September 4-7, 2014.
Running of the Bulls on September 20, 2014 is both a benefit for Partners Mentoring Youth and a great opportunity to see more of the town and Rocky Mountain National Park while getting some exercise. Running or walking is ok. There's also a separate, free, mile-long route for kids!
Autumn Gold Festival brings a dose of bluegrass, folk, rock, jazz, brats and beer to Bond Park, just in time to toast the arrival of another Autumn. These cheerful afternoons of music and food will be taking place on September 20 and 21, 2014, from 11am to 5pm at Bond Park—less than a 5 minute drive from Brynwood on the River!
You've probably heard their calls, or even seen one or two during the fall season. Now you can take part in Elk Fest—a weekend of bus tours, educational tours and a bugling contest! Artwork inspired by the animals will also be featured. This event will take place on October (also known as "Elktober") 4th and 5th in Bond Park, just down the road from Brynwood on the River.
The Estes Trail Ascent Trail Running Conference brings together a number of workshops, educational speakers and vendors together for a three-day gathering, from October 9-11, 2014. The conference ends with a 5.9 mile race beginning from the top of Pole Hill Road!
One ticket to Estes Park's Fall Back Beer Festival gets you a sampling mug and unlimited access to the best of Colorado's microbreweries. There are plenty to choose from—Colorado ranks among the country's highest microbrewery states—and a free Homebrew Seminar is offered to give pointers on the different types and ingredients. The Festival will take place on Saturday, November 1st.
Estes Park's Catch the Glow Holiday Parade is our town's way of officially welcoming the Christmas season. Taking place on November 28, 2012—the day after Thanksgiving—Catch the Glow will also feature activities beforehand like hay rides, animal characters in the streets, and a visit from Santa Claus.
Be sure to also consider making a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park, open year round for visitors like you!
