Free Things to Do in Estes Park
Want to enjoy Estes Park on a budget? Though many of our guests enjoy the amenities at Brynwood on the River, there are additional free things to do in Estes Park and ways to get out and explore our city at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park at little cost.
Walk along Estes Park’s Riverwalk! Hidden behind the candy and souvenir shops along Elkhorn Avenue, this walkway follows the riverbanks and is a nice alternative to the main shopping streets. Or, you can head over to Lake Estes and walk along this lakeside paved path.
Drive Peak to Peak along the scenic 55-mile route showcasing the Continental Divide! You’ll pass Rocky Mountain National Park, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, and the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, among smaller ski resorts and wilderness areas. There are also a variety of scenic drives in Rocky Mountain National Park for unparalleled views of the mountain ranges and valleys.
During the winter, enjoy the relatively low cost of sledding at Hidden Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park. Many sporting goods stores offer sled rentals for about $5 per day.
If the little ones are after some thrills and chills, check out Ghost Stories at The Stanley Hotel for $10 per adult. This is the hotel’s family-friendly ghost tour and is appropriate for all ages. The little ones may also enjoy playing around at the Estes Park Ride-A-Kart. You can bundle up tickets to save more money on activities like mini golf, bumper boats, bumper cars, or the extreme trampoline.
