Experience the Front Range during Elktober and attend one of the most celebrated events of the year to kick off the autumn season, Elk Fest in Estes Park. With plenty of fun for the whole family, there’s no reason not to come out and enjoy the two days of festivities!
Elk Fest in Estes Park
When: October 2nd – 3rd
Where: Bond Park in Estes Park
The Elk
Elk Fest pays homage to the changing season and the start of the elk rutting (mating) season signaled by the haunting bugle of the resident elk here in Estes Valley and throughout Rocky Mountain National Park.
The elk tend to migrate to the lower elevation areas during the fall season, and it’s not uncommon to catch a herd wandering downtown Estes Park or a pack resting underneath a shady golden tree. If you encounter one of these majestic beasts, admire it from afar, and please try not to disturb them. For your safety, avoid coming within 75 feet of the elk.
Live Music
Live music makes an excellent soundtrack for a fantastic day at the festival. On Saturday, the Blues Dogs will bring smooth blues in the afternoon. Sunday, the indie pop-rock sounds of Venture Still will be taking the party to ElkFest.
Vendor
Pick up something to remember your Elktober visit to Estes Valley. You can always take home a souvenir from one of the many local vendors out sharing their unique elk-inspired wares and crafts.
Food
Enjoy delicious festival food and unique homemade delights from some of our favorite vendors and food trucks. Look forward to sticky sweet treats, salty snacks, and savory meals.
Bugling Contest
Families love signing up for the Bugling Contest. Get a chance to test your lungs and use the bugle tube to give it your best shot to sound like an elk.
Native American Performances
Celebrate the indigenous peoples of the region through authentic Native American dancing, storytelling, and music performances.
Craft Beer Garden
Attendees 21+ can’t wait to visit the Watering Hole for a taste of craft beer heaven in Estes Park. Enjoy local favorites and maybe find a new go-to drink.
Live Animal Exhibit
Look and learn with live raptors from the Rocky Mountain Raptor program. Kids can’t get enough of the fierce birds of prey that they bring out to meet the fans.
